The Methylation Archetypes Quiz
Which methylation configuration are you?
Most people go through life feeling like something about their body or brain doesn't quite fit the standard advice. They react to foods their friends don't. They run on empty when everyone else seems fine. They feel too much, or not enough, or chase something they can't quite name. And most of the frameworks they encounter — nutritional, medical, psychological — explain part of what they're experiencing but never quite the whole thing.
This quiz is different because it starts from a specific angle: the biology underneath how you actually feel.
Methylation is a chemical process your body runs about a billion times per second. It regulates how you produce and clear neurotransmitters, how you detoxify, how you handle stress, how you sleep, and how you show up as yourself in the world. When your methylation system runs cleanly, most of these processes hum along in the background. When it runs slowly, unevenly, or under-supported, you notice — often in ways that don't have a name.
Different methylation configurations produce different patterns of experience. This quiz maps yours.
How it works:
You'll answer 35 questions across five sections — how your body operates day to day, how it responds to specific inputs, what signals it's been sending you, how you experience emotions, and some background context. It takes about 8-10 minutes.
At the end, you'll receive one of five methylation archetypes with:
-
A description of the pattern your answers suggest
-
What's often happening biologically underneath that pattern
-
Whether DBAMTHFR fits your configuration and how to take it if it does
-
What might help most alongside it
-
What to watch for in the first 30 days
-
An honest look at the other archetypes we considered, so you can see the whole map
The five archetypes:
-
The Sensitive System — patterns often associated with slow catecholamine clearance
-
The Depleted Runner — patterns often associated with reduced methylation capacity
-
The Histamine Holder — patterns often associated with slower histamine clearance
-
The Stimulation Seeker — patterns often associated with fast catecholamine clearance
-
The Complex Configuration — patterns suggesting multiple systems interacting
Before you begin:
This quiz is educational, not medical. It cannot diagnose genetic variants or health conditions, and it isn't a substitute for professional guidance. What it gives you is a starting point — a frame to think from, a next step, or several, that make sense given the patterns your answers reveal.
If you've spent years wondering why the standard advice doesn't quite fit you, this might be part of why.
